Tremella (Tremella fuciformis) is the beauty mushroom, also called snow fungus: gelatinous fruiting bodies that look like snow-white coral. Like hyaluronic acid, it has a rare ability to bind water in the skin, and its active compounds have a smaller molecular weight, which experts link to easier penetration and even better hydration. Its fruiting bodies contain galactomannan, a polysaccharide that may bind water much as hyaluronic acid does. Your own hyaluronic acid, collagen and elastin fall with the years, which makes Tremella a worthwhile addition: longer-lasting hydration, smoother skin and a stronger skin barrier.
